On arrival at the Emergency Centre, you will be greeted by a receptionist who will collect your particulars.
A registered nurse will be called immediately and they will then take your history and vital signs to determine your triage category.
Patients are seen in order of priority, not in order of arrival.
- 24/7 access to onsite x-ray, CT, and pathology services
- 12 treatment areas, 2 resuscitation bays, dedicated procedure room
- Direct undercover access for ambulance services
- Adult and paediatric care
Our Doctors have 24/7 access to on-call Specialists
The Emergency Centre is supported by a full gamut of allied health practitioners including:
Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Hand Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nurse educators in the fields of diabetes, stoma care, asthma and breast/post-natal care.
The nature of emergency medicine and the related design of some areas of the Emergency Centre means that a lack of privacy may be of concern. If you feel that your privacy is being compromised at the time of your visit, please advise staff so that we can try to accommodate your wishes. However, if the EC is busy, there may not be a private consultation room available at that time.
Your GP will receive a copy of your notes and ancillary investigation results.
If you don’t want this to occur, please advise us of your wishes.
If you have X-rays as part of your EC investigations, please remember to take the films with you on your departure.
Any films left at the EC must be collected within four weeks otherwise they are destroyed to protect your privacy.
An attempt is made by our emergency nursing staff to contact all patients presenting with a new problem the following day to check on the patient’s progress and to receive feedback on their EC experience.
The Toowoomba Private Emergency Centre prides itself on a very high standard of care and follow-up.
Every attempt will be made to find a cause for your problem and initiate the appropriate treatment or referral including close liaison with your GP.
If you have any questions or need further advice on the costs involved, please call the Practice Manager, Narelle Burrows, during business hours on 07 4690 4444
